8,000 to dine around Thompson Okanagan

The British Columbia Restaurant and Foodservices Association is excited to bring back the popular Dine Around 2018, presented by the Wines of British Columbia, January 17 to February 4. More than 50 restaurants throughout the Thompson Okanagan are featuring a three-course menu for $15, $25, $35 or $45 with suggested BC VQA wine pairings, BC craft beer pairings or spirits and cocktail pairings. Wild Card game set, rest of field confirmed, for 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Penticton There will be a blend of experience and youth heading to B.C.’s beautiful Okanagan region for the 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, beginning on Jan. 27 at the South Okanagan Events Centre. The Van Osch sisters are the top women’s curling team in the province. Kesa, Kalia, and Marika Van Osch along with teammate Amy Gibson will represent BC at the 2018 Scotties in Penticton BC later this month. Skip Kesa Van Osch has been on the big stage before, representing BC at the national women’s championship in 2014. In 2012, the sisters won B.C.’s junior championship. More than 30 budding writers from across the valley put their writing skills to the test in Okanagan College’s 8th Annual 3-Hour Short Story contest and second-year arts student Hannah Stanley has been announced as the overall winner for her original story “The Best Years of Our Lives.” The 180-minute timed contest was held last month at the College’s Vernon, Salmon Arm and Penticton campuses and at Kelowna Secondary School.
