It’s a job that usually falls to Mom, but this Father’s Day, Loyal Wooldridge and his Loyal Hair Therapy team are teaching Dad how to braid his little ladies hair like a champion.
The Dads & Braids charity event is being held on Sunday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m at Prestige Beach House in Kelowna. Tickets are on sale now for $55 per Dad and daughter duo.
All funds raised are being dedicated to support the Better Together campaign to build JoeAnna’s House, a home away from home for families, including Dads, to stay while their loved ones receive advanced medical care at Kelowna General Hospital. Every year, thousands of families must travel from their home communities from across BC to KGH, many of them leaving with little warning and even less time to plan. Finding affordable accommodations in Kelowna, especially in the busy summer months, has become increasingly difficult, only adding to the hardship of an already stressful time.
The Better Together campaign aims to raise $8 million to build and operate JoeAnna’s House to help alleviate that strain.
“We wanted to stay close to what JoeAnna’s House is all about, and that’s keeping families together,” says owner Loyal Wooldridge. “This event is such a great way for Dads and their little girls to spend some quality time together one-on-one, have a good laugh, and hopefully it’s not too painful for either party.”
The workshop will teach Dads how to create three simple looks, under the watchful eye of a professional stylist. Wooldridge promises his ‘students’ will leave with the confidence to style their daughter’s hair at home, from ponytails to braids, no Mom required!
Light refreshments and snacks will be served. Details and tickets are available online at https://dadsandbraids.eventbrite.ca
