Judgement of BC

Okanagan winemakers were put to the test this fall as 12 BC wines faced-off against 12 global benchmarks. Taking top honours among the flight of Bordeaux-style red blends was Poplar Grove The Legacy 2014. Laughing Stock Vineyards’ Portfolio 2015 placed second. DJ Kearney, founder of the Judgement of BC, says, “The fact that two BC wines topped the red blends challenge was a true testament to our distinct terroir and climate, but most of all to skilled farming and winemaking.”

Grape Research

For the first time, the four grape growing provinces are joining forces thanks to a Government of Canada investment of $8.4 million to develop a national research cluster to help growers better protect their crops, test new vine varieties, and analyse growing practices. Industry will invest another $3.7 million investment.“This contribution is significant in helping to build the Canadian brand for our exceptional Canadian wines. From BC, Ontario, Quebec, to Nova Scotia, Canadian vintners are making wines that are competing and winning in international markets,” says Canadian Vintners Association CEO Dan Paszkowski.
