Silver-Star-Family-Day-skiSilver Star Mountain Resort is anticipating its second successful BC Family Day after the new family holiday gave ski resorts an economic boost during February of last year. The provincial government, after being lobbied by BC ski resorts, moved BC Family Day so that it would not conflict with other provinces’ holidays. Doing so created a holiday that benefits all British Columbians and provides economic benefits to the ski resorts and BC Tourism.

Residents presenting a valid BC driver’s license on Monday February 10 can purchase half-price lift tickets.
“Family Day was a great success last year,” says Anne Haight, director of sales and marketing. “We had an excellent turnout and it was one of our busiest weekends of the year. The pond was busy with families skating and playing ice hockey and many were out tubing too. It puts a smile on my face to see these Canadian traditions live on. I hope everyone spends this fun holiday with people that are important to them.”

To celebrate BC Family Day, Silver Star is offering deep discounts on lift tickets and accommodation. Stay three nights and ski two days at Silver Star Mountain Resort and you will receive 15 per cent off slope side lodging and lift tickets. To book, call Silver Star Holidays and quote booking code WA.

Silver Star is hosting the 33rd annual HollisWealth Over the Hill Downhill ski race that falls during this weekend, on Sunday, February 9. Individuals and teams that register have the chance to win prizes for fastest times down the mountain.

“This stretch of winter can feel never-ending so its the perfect time to bring your whole family out to the mountain,” says Michael Sherwood, general manager, Silver Star Mountain Resort. “Parents can ski or ride, kids can go tubing or hit the ski school and grandma and grandpa can take their time gliding along our Nordic ski trails. Silver Star offers so many family friendly activities to choose from at family friendly prices.”

Silver Star’s participation in the Family Day Ski Promotion ensures tourism dollars remain in BC while supporting key local businesses and driving an increase in job opportunities. David Lynn, CEO of Canada West Ski Area Association, deemed the first ever Family Day’s promotions as “phenomenally successful.”
