$5,000 awarded to local entrepreneur with the best pitch
Students from Enactus Okanagan College are hosting the ninth Venture Okanagan Investors Forum on Thursday, April 9 in Kelowna. The local entrepreneur with the best pitch is awarded a cash prize of $5,000 from title sponsors Grant Thornton LLP and BDC.
Venture Okanagan is the largest angel investors’ forum in the Okanagan, and aims to connect entrepreneurs with potential investors, business leaders, and members of the Venture Okanagan community. Each year members from around the community come together to evaluate local entrepreneurs as they make their pitches for funding.
“With entrepreneurship becoming such a large part of the community, we think it’s important to host this kind of event, which connects great ideas with the resources to bring them to life,” says Stephanie Baziuk, Vice President of the student-run Enactus Okanagan College association.
Spread across the four campuses of Okanagan College in Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton, and Salmon Arm, Enactus Okanagan College develops and implements projects in our communities that improve the quality of life and standard of living across the region
This year’s entrepreneurs include: Ryan Gallagher, Motivation Engine, Peter Obrien, VO2 Master, and Alex Miller, and Visland Media. Students will also hear an update from our previous winner, Angela Nagy, with Green Step Solutions.
Following the presentations, there will be a fully catered reception, which will serve as a networking opportunity for presenters and angels. The College’s Culinary Arts program will provide the food for the event.
The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and presentations from the pre-screened entrepreneurs will begin at 6 p.m. in room H115 at Okanagan College. Tickets are $35 and include admission into the networking reception following the presentations.
