Elevation Outdoors annual fundraising event, Reason for the Season, is set for Saturday, October 26 at the Hotel Eldorado. The evening of fun and entertainment includes live music, three course dinner with wine, live and silent auctions, and lots of door prizes. Taking to the stage is Okanagan Life Publisher John Paul Byrne’s guitar duo, Johnny vs. Johnny.
Elevation Outdoors works to enhance the lives of underprivileged youth by teaching them outdoor sports and pursuits and drawing parallels to life through the experience. In the process they help youth develop passion for snowboarding and mountain biking and develop life skills along the way.
All programs are offered to eligible young people free of charge. Elevation believes that no young person should be denied the potential to discover an outdoor pursuit that can keep one motivated, healthy, and stoked on life.
In winter, at-risk and disadvantaged youth are taught to snowboard, while making parallels from this learning experience to real life situations and lessons learned. Life skills are acquired while in the process of learning to ride a snowboard.
In the summer, mountain biking programs give young people a chance to discover cross-country and downhill mountain biking, while being part of a group with positive role models.
