Spectrum Singers Christmas Choir
December 5 and 6 2014 marks the fifth year in which the accomplished Spectrum Singers under the direction of Kim Kleineberg will entertain the audience with a mixture of seasonal favourites and a diverse selection of musical genres.
Joined by pianist Elizabeth Wocks and musicians Lonnie Burma, Stephen Buck and Darko Cuk , Reflections of the Season includes a gorgeous marriage between the well-known First Noel and the early Baroque period Pachelbel Canon; a choral arrangement of a famous Chopin prelude called December’s Keep; and Purcell’s In a Consort of Voices.
Many audience members will recognize The Blessing, the tender love song made famous by Celtic Woman, and the haunting Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace with text dating from the period of St. Francis of Assisi.
No concert directed by Kim Kleineberg is ever without some toe-tapping music with full instrumentation. Walking in the Spirit is a spiritual piece that definitely meets that requirement
This Spectrum Singers programme offers a little bit of everything, from humour to soul-stirring harmonies. After the concert, the audience is invited to a wine and dessert reception.
The concert starts at 8 pm (doors open at 7:30) at St. Michael’s Cathedral at 608 Sutherland Avenue in Kelowna. Tickets ($20 for adults and $10 for students) are available from any choir member, from Mosaic Books and at the door.
