Misery: Theatre Series
The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre proudly presents Arts Club Theatre's production of Misery on Tuesday, January 30 at 7:30pm. Misery is the third performance in the Society's 2017/18 Theatre series.
Written by William Goldman, based on Stephen King's chilling thriller of the same name, Misery follows Paul Sheldon, a successful romance novelist, as he's kidnapped by a rabid fan - Annie Wilkes. Angered that he has killed off her favourite character, Annie forces Paul to resurrect her in a new book. Captive in a secluded home, Paul finds himself writing for his freedom, and his life!
The Arts Club Theatre is the largest theatre company in Western Canada, and has brought quality productions to Vernon for many years. Lead by Artistic Managing Director Bill Millerd, who was awarded the Order of Canada in 1994 for his contribution to Canadian theatre, the Arts Club Theatre is based in Vancouver and tours high quality professional productions throughout British Columbia.
Stephen King's Misery was nominated for the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1988 and has since inspired films and plays. This staged production expertly adapts King's unsettling story and the edge-of-your-seat performance will leave you out of breath and wanting more.
