Skin And Bones Music Series

Skin and Bones has the perfect antidote to the grey days of February in the Okanagan.

Atomic is an internationally celebrated quintet poised to perform on February 23rd at the Black Box Theatre in downtown Kelowna. Hailing from Norway and Sweden they formed in 2000 and released their first album “Feet music” in 2002. For the past 18 years they have been navigating the globe wooing audiences with their unique style of adventurous jazz expertly straddling the line between creative playing and swinging hard. Rest assured Atomic is no mere experiment in blending various styles of jazz, they perform with a virtuosic enthusiasm and energy that is guaranteed to emotionally resonate with Kelowna audiences.

Atomic’s most recent triple CD studio release (2017) “Six easy pieces” also features the band in top form live in Japan and received a four star rating from All About Jazz media. Premium pleasurable sounds from five brilliant musicians that is hard to beat and…..far cheaper than skiing.

Atomic is comprised of: Fredrik Ljungkvist reeds, Magnus Broo trumpet, Håvard Wiik piano, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten bass (who previously visited Kelowna in the summer of 2016 in the powerhouse trio The Thing), and Hans Hulbækmo drums.

Atomic performs int the Black Box Theatre at 1375 Water Street in Kelowna. Doors open at 7:30 pm and the concert will begin at 8:00 pm sharp.

This concert is the twenty-sixth installment of the Skin And Bones Music Series. Now in its third year of production, Skin And Bones is an Okanagan Arts Award nominated concert series dedicated to the presentation of experimental music in the Okanagan, produced through the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art.

Admission is $20 for the public and $15 for students and Alternator members. Tickets can be purchased at the door or will be available soon at Milkcrate Records at 527 Lawrence Avenue or at the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art inside the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
