Silver Star Mountain Resort Appoints New Managing Director

Silver Star Mountain Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ken Derpak as its new Managing Director. Derpak will lead the Silver Star team after serving as President and CEO at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, overseeing hotel and resort operations, golf, skiing, and all aspects of its daily operations.

Commenting on his appointment, Derpak said “I am truly excited to be able to call Silver Star, ‘My Mountain.’ I have enjoyed the resort as a guest - in both winter and summer - and now I am excited to join this great team with its rich resort history and diverse array of offerings in winter and summer. I look forward to living in the village as it will allow me to truly experience the resort’s amenities and the vibrancy that makes it a four season destination resort.”

Derpak has an extensive background in the ski industry and resort business. He has served as Director of Finance for both the Resort Municipality of Whistler, and Whistler Blackcomb.  He also held several key positions at Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort in Banff, including Vice President of Operations and Senior Vice President of Planning, Development, Regulatory and Government Affairs.

“We are delighted to add someone with Ken’s knowledge to our resort’s leadership team," says Jane Cann, Silver Star’s Owner and President. "We look forward to his guidance and expertise.”

Derpak will commence his new role in mid-July and will be instrumental in leading Silver Star Mountain Resort into the next phases of its continued growth and success.
