Congratulations, Hannah.
We are so pleased about this article in Okanagan Life. Our frienship goes back 8 1/2 years when we moved into our house and you greeted us with a warm welcome drawing left on our door step. You are the sunshine of our neighbourhood and by now you are letting your light shine all over the world. How we need young women like you. Thank you for being "Hannah".

it gave me great pleasure to read this article about Hannah's social activism. It is a reminder that it is not age or status that make us leaders. It is having a passionate commitment to one's community and, indeed, to the world at large. Great things can be accomplished when we choose to act on our responses to our often troubled world. And in doing so, we change our world, our community and ourselves. I'm sure your family is proud of you. I know your grandmother will be!

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. ~Anne Frank

Good work, Mr. Hawkes! Too many in this privileged part of the world think they have it so bad. Those who are really in poverty in our countries are too busy trying to find enough food, shelter and adaquate clothing to laze about for weeks, camping in parks and whining as they text their friends or get interviewed on TV. So you aren't in the 1%... I only make 20% of Canada's per capita net worth, but I have a warm home, enough clothes and food, and even a vehicle I can afford to run. Much more than most people around the world. We need to practice gratefulness instead of entitlement.

Rarely do I comment on articles in the media. However, today I am! Thank you for publishing the article "Greed redefined" this month. Perspective is everything when weighing out the pros and cons of any given topic. Mr. Hawkes helps shed light on the "Occupy" movement. Not for, nor against, but rather as a team is a great approach to helping the "poor among us." The perspective of our wealth in relation to the rest of the world should put us in our place! I am humbled, and thankful all at the same time. Hopefully it spurs more people on to be generous in their giving to the poor in our world! So again, "Thank you" Okanagan Life!

Sent via email:

I loved this issue! The cover is great, super interesting articles. I really like the "Our other Ice Sport". A very impressive number of young folks doing great deeds out there and I really enjoy the tone of both Gillian and Patti's work.
I also loved the graphics that went with my Steroids for Students piece..the person made of pills and dark blue...very nice. The Pulse and Culturista piece looked great side by side and the piece selected for Rear View really worked with the overall tone of philanthropy, & keeping our good fortunes in perspective. A heart-warming issue...really local with a classy feel. Well done!
