A little more on Paulson. He actually hired Alan Greenspan as an advisor to his hedge fund. The Fed chairman who encouraged the housing bubble, cashed in on the very crooked policies he put in place. Worse than the rat leaving the sinking ship; he benefitted from the bad math he created—part of the $15 billion the hedge fund won, while Paulson himself got $3.7 billion.

I’ll bet your best hockey stick (Pluto-logic) that all the financial guys don’t know this—or they look the other way because they make their living on the same stock exchange? Paradox. The money that they tell us vanished merely changed hands—the redistribution of wealth from the middle class to 1/10th of 1 per cent. It must be awful for you—because you see how much work goes into the buying and selling of real estate in Kelowna and to fully comprehend how one slippery hedge fund manager “took” all profits for millions of home owners—leaving many destitute—would be paradoxical… of the highest order.

Plutocrats the Musical will send a strong message one day—but for now, I’m working 3 jobs just to stay in the game—precisely where the Plutocrats want me!

I just read your comments in the Progress edition and I felt compelled to to write and say how encouraged I was to read your perspicacious and much needed words.

You are being brave and speaking truth to an entrenched and well established system that wields a lot of power. It’s what we in the media are supposed to do. You are going against the grain in society and it’s a message we need to hear until the message somehow, someday… sinks in.

With the paucity of voices that speak these kinds of words, I wonder if ‘the message’ can ever find the traction it needs to shake our world out of their cable company induced stupor. Anyways, good on you for choosing to circle back with the puck and look for a better way to get it out of our zone!

When you say “power follows money,” it’s like you’ve hit me on the tape at full speed in the neutral zone! It’s a simple truth but nobody seems to make the connection these days. We are overwhelmed in this sea of unregulated, unrestrained, doctrinaire capitalism and there seems to be little hope that we will find some sturdy seafaring vessel that can lift us from the waves. (I sometimes think I’m in the Matrix movie where everybody likes the illusion more than reality.) Anyway, when I read your insights, I begin to think that maybe all is not lost!

So… long live the voice of Paul!

PS: I need to read more about this John Paulson guy, I think. I have this idea that the 2008 meltdown involved many players in a deregulated system and not so much one guy. 3.5 billion… Wow. One person. 3.5 Billion. The number is so unimaginably large, we just can’t immediately comprehend how reprehensible that is…
